Communication with iPod, iPhone and/or iPad (via a proprietary communications protocol as part of Apple's MFi licensing program) has been abstracted in PSoC 3 & PSoC 5, enabling MFi licensed developers to very quickly design unique mobile accessories, from traditional audio products to diagnostics, measurement and instrumentation tools, medical and health and wellness devices, and more!

PSoC 3 & PSoC 5 provides new features and capabilities while reducing the overall bill-of-materials. PSoC 3 & PSoC 5 enables three main functions in these accessories:

 1.  Abstracts the communication protocol with iPod, iPhone and iPad (and associated apps).
 2.  Digital Audio pipe, utilizing the integrated FS USB interface, and programmable digital logic to instantiate I2S and S/PDIF.
 3.  Housekeeping microcontroller for power management, user interface (CapSense and LCD control/drive), IR Rx., and other PSoC functions.
