SAN JOSE, Calif., 2010년 3월 17일 – Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NASDAQ: CY) today announced it will showcase the Arm®-based PSoC® 5 programmable system-on-chip architecture and PSoC Creator™ integrated development environment (IDE) at the EE Times Virtual Conference entitled “Designing with Arm: Engineer an Optimal Arm Based System.” Cypress will have experts on the PSoC 5 and PSoC Creator offerings available for live chat throughout the conference, and will also offer online training and a wide range of informational resources. The virtual conference takes place on March 25 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. PDT. Registration information and more details on the conference are available at https://www.cypress.com/go/PSoC5ARMconf.

The PSoC 5 architecture integrates a 32-bit Arm Cortex™-M3 core with high-precision programmable analog including 12-bit to 20-bit ADCs, digital logic libraries full of dozens of drop-in peripherals, best-in-class power management and rich connectivity resources. The PSoC Creator IDE introduces a unique schematic-based design methodology along with fully tested, pre-packaged analog and digital peripherals easily customizable through user-intuitive wizards and APIs to meet specific design requirements. More information on the PSoC platform is available at https://www.cypress.com/go/psoc.

“The Cypress booth at the Arm Virtual Conference offers rich training and informational resources, along with live chat for personalized learning,” said Ata Khan, Vice President of Technical Staff at Cypress. “Engineers will learn how to quickly begin designs in the PSoC Creator IDE that leverage the programmable, high-precision analog and digital resources and the powerful 32-bit Arm Cortex-M3 core in the PSoC 5 architecture.”

Khan will participate in a panel discussion entitled “New Frontiers for Arm Cores: New Architectures, New Opportunities” from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. PDT. The panelists will discuss what applications the latest Arm chips make the most sense for, and what tools, tips and techniques are available to help designers implement those designs.

Four online training modules provide engineers with in-depth training on the PSoC architecture, as well as the PSoC Creator software design flow. These introductory training modules teach engineers how to take advantage of the high-precision analog, programmable digital and high-performance core and CPU subsystem through a combination of lecture and hands-on labs. The modules include:
• Introduction to the Architecture and Design Flow
• Introduction to System Resources
• Introduction to Digital Peripherals
• Introduction to Analog Peripherals.

Additional training resources include:
• The webinar “Introducing an Evolutionary Leap in Embedded Design,” which explores how engineers can overcome embedded design challenges with true system-level programmability, as exemplified by the new PSoC platform.
• A “Fundamentals of Programmable Analog” Course intended for designers looking to get up to speed on the latest technologies available to allow them to quickly design highly integrated systems for applications ranging from consumer and automotive to medical and industrial.
• Registration for a half-day workshop entitled “Introduction to PSoC 3 and PSoC 5,” which gives hands-on experience using and developing PSoC 3 and PSoC 5 solutions utilizing the PSoC Creator IDE and the PSoC Development Kit (CY8CKIT-001).
• A video entitled “Creating Custom Components in PSoC Creator” that shows how to use the PSoC Creator IDE to integrate custom components into a design.

The virtual booth includes a link to download the PSoC Creator IDE for free. Additional resources for download include datasheets for the four PSoC 5 families, a PSoC brochure, a PSoC Creator product overview and a PSoC kits product overview.

About PSoC 3 and PSoC 5
The new PSoC 3 and PSoC 5 architectures include high-precision programmable analog capability (up to 20-bit resolution for an Analog to Digital Converter) and expanded programmable digital resources integrated with powerful, industry-standard MCU cores and ample memory and communications peripherals. The PSoC 3 devices are based on a new, high-performance 8-bit 8051 processor, while the PSoC 5 devices include a powerful 32-bit Arm Cortex™-M3 processor. The new products provide designers with a seamless, programmable design platform, enabling easy migration from 8 to 32 bits. The robust features of these new solutions dramatically expand the applications and markets that PSoC can address, including automotive, portable medical, industrial and many more.
